About Mosaic Market

A marketplace built around dignified work

Mosaic Market began with a simple conviction: that a shop can be a place of welcome, and that every product on a shelf should honour the person who made it. Today it is a café, a slow fashion boutique, an artisan market and a gathering place on Changklan Road, run as a freedom business of Rise Foundation Asia.

Every handcrafted piece has a story, and every purchase can make a difference.

Helen has spent more than two decades working alongside vulnerable communities, survivors of trauma and mission-driven organisations across Asia. She is the founder and CEO of Rise Foundation Asia and Regional Director of Asia Freedom Network.

Mosaic Market grew out of that work. Women leaving exploitation needed safe, steady jobs. Makers across the region needed a place where their craft would be explained and fairly priced. Chiang Mai needed a room where people could sit down together. The shop answers all three at once.

Helen also hosts The Human Trace, a podcast of conversations with survivors, frontline workers and community builders.

Vision

A safe, inclusive marketplace that makes conscious living ordinary

We want sustainable choices to feel easy and close at hand: a good coffee, a well-made bag, a gift with a name behind it. And we want the people who make those things to be safe, paid fairly and able to grow.

Objective

Empower through work

Create meaningful jobs that respect each person’s skills and story, with fair wages, training and room to grow into new roles.

Objective

Champion sustainability

Choose ethical sourcing, lasting materials and slow fashion that respects local culture and traditional craft.

Objective

Build community

Keep a space where every person feels valued, where contributions are noticed, and where strangers become neighbours.

Values

Four things we hold to

Dignity and respect

We honour the individuality of each person, their story and their skill, and keep a workplace that is fair, respectful and healing-centred.

Inclusivity

Everyone is welcome here. We make room for different voices and experiences, and we build a culture of belonging on purpose.

Sustainability

From sourcing to production, we choose practices that are good for people and for the land they depend on.

Authentic connection

We keep real relationships with our team, our partners and our neighbours, because lasting change is built together.

Rise Foundation Asia

Honouring stories, creating change

Rise Foundation Asia works to break cycles of exploitation, trauma and systemic exclusion. Its approach is collaborative and patient: walking alongside communities, and building responses that last longer than a single programme.

The Whispering Willow sits at the heart of that work. It is a trauma-sensitive support space where survivors can reclaim their stories and shape their futures, at their own pace and among people they trust.

The foundation’s freedom businesses, Mosaic Market, Mosaic Brew and Thrive Ethical Fashion, turn that care into livelihoods. They offer dignified work, training and income, and every product they sell carries the story of the person who made it.

Come and see it for yourself

The best way to understand Mosaic is to sit in it for an hour. Order a coffee, pick up a woven bag, turn it over and ask who made it. We are on Changklan Road, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 18:30.
